Ernest (Kevin Anggara/Ernest Prakasa) never decided how he was born. But fate decided it, he was born in a Chinese family. Grew up in the middle of new order government where discrimination for Chinese people still has a strong appearance. Bullying became a daily food. He tried to make some aborigine friends, although his best friend, Patrick (Brandon Salim/Morgan Oey) never agreed about that. Unfortunately, his works never accomplished, until Ernest made a decision to marry a aborigine girl so he could make some aborigine friends.

When in college at Bandung, Ernest met Meira (Lala Karmela). Although Meira's father (Budi Dalton) never let his daughter to meet Ernest but finally they could date each other. And the getting married, in Chinese tradition only for made Ernest's parents (Ferry Salim and Olga Lidya) proud of him.

For the first time in forever~ *LOL* I make a review about an Indonesian movie. "Ngenest: Ngetawain Hidup ala Ernest" is a movie based on Ernest's real life. From this film we can learn about the meaning of friendship, the power of unity, family, the different culture and many more. I really love this film because it has a deep meaning behind it. My rating for this film is 80%. Because I love the story and the message too.

The positive things of this movie are you can learn about the different of Chinese and Indonesian cultures. When racist is the most happened crime at that time but, Ernest never give up on life and he think that Chinese and Indonesian must unite together. It's so hard to accomplished at first but he always try and try and try again. Then there're some comedies at this film so, you won't be bored, almost all of the casts are comedians. 

The negative things are you can guess almost the whole story but you can't guess the comedy part. If you compare it with another comedy-movie made in Indonesia, maybe it's not the best one but I really like how he brings his life to one purpose. Sometimes the comedy part isn't that funny if you don't understand what is the meaning of it. The transform between the cast is too different. But that's not the real problem I think when you can enjoy the whole story.

So, this is my first time to make a review about Indonesian movie and hope you like it. I recommend you to watch this film and you won't be that upset I think *LOL* See ya, Baldy!!
